What is "Taste of Colombo"?

Watch the historic Vihara Maha Devi Park (Amphitheatre and Green Path Street) in Colombo come alive, buzzing with sights, sounds, colours and tastes.

Lanka Event Management is the event management arm of Lanka Hotels and Travels (PVT) Ltd, which is a subsidiary of Lanka Ice Holdings. Known for our signature events, which tranced boundaries and the conventional - for the second time, we bring you - Taste of Colombo - Sri Lanka's biggest street festival.

From the 27th of September to the 1st of October, the Vihara Maha Devi Park Amphitheatre will play host to Taste of Colombo 2012, and turn the area into a buzzing extravaganza of excitement. The celebratory mood of the city will already be high - as the festival takes place during the peak of the T20 Cricket Championship, and we will kick the buzz a few notches.

Taste of Colombo is not your average street festival - it is so much more. What we aim to do is capture the spirit and the national flavour of our beautiful island in one festival. We are creating a place where we can promote the local delights to the international tourist, as well as create a place for the local community to enjoy themselves as well. For 5 days the festival will be open and entrance is free of charge.

We have invited approximately 50 different food vendors ranging from leading restaurants, catering services, bakers, pastry shops as well as street stalls to give a wide range of tastes. The stalls aren't limited to food as we will also be showcasing traditional trade along the lines of batik, handloom, paintings, wood carvings, handicrafts, masks, tea, spices, Ayurveda and travel agents and much more.

And in case that isn't enough - we have also lined up an array of fringe events that will run concurrently with the festival, providing something for everyone. These include the inaugural Colombo Green Walk, cooking the World's Largest Kottu Roti and School Brass Band Competition to name a few.
